Reviewing portfolio files

Complete files are available to entitled partners through the partner API. Public holdings CSV files are half-masked previews and cannot supply a complete model. IBKR Rebalance compatibility is unverified; BasketTrader is an unsized review template. xPortfolios publishes targets; your firm controls accounts and execution.

Download a saved decision

Use your partner key in the Authorization header for an individual file or a ZIP of the latest decisions for your entitled portfolios. Available format names are ibkr-rebalance, ibkr-basket, csv and xlsx. The individual route accepts an optional rebalance_id for a historical decision.

GET /api/v1/partner/portfolios/{slug}/files/{format}
GET /api/v1/partner/files/{format}.zip

A successful download records delivery. Delivery and acknowledgement do not mean the account executed trades. Use the partner targets/history endpoints to check decision status, correction linkage and effective time. Keep the decision ID, release ID and file alongside your own account review record. A daily valuation refresh can change the release ID without creating a new decision.

Allocation and exact securities

A weight is part of the capital the platform rebalances. In generic files 0.05 means 5%; in IBKR Rebalance the value is 5. The target percentages do not size shares. Account value, price, fees, cash, open orders and rounding affect the resulting quantities. Where targets leave a cash remainder, retain it; do not rescale the weights to 100%.

We recommend strategy-dedicated accounts. A $20,000 allocation inside a $100,000 account requires a platform-supported sleeve or separate account for the weights to use $20,000. Confirm that basis and the treatment of unrelated holdings before previewing orders.

Match the exact listing, share class, ISIN where supplied, exchange and quote currency. Company names and tickers alone are insufficient. Do not substitute ADRs, CFDs, foreign listings or a different class. Blank ISINs need another exact contract check. Generic files retain source currency labels; a pence quote does not change a percentage weight. Stop for unsupported or ambiguous securities and agree the resolution with your team.

Initial allocation and weekly changes

For initial allocation, start from the complete current target set. A later-joining client also starts from the current set, rather than replaying earlier buys and sells. Inspect its actual positions and cash independently.

Each subsequent file includes retained targets, entries and explicit zero-weight exits. The model changes do not prescribe order side or quantity for an individual account: a retained stock can need buying or selling after its price changes. Verify every zero target and all holdings already in the account.

Repeats, skipped updates and corrections

  • Repeated file: use the stable rebalance_id to recognize a decision already reviewed. Re-importing can create duplicate proposals; inspect or cancel earlier proposals and open orders before another preview. Never treat another download as another trade instruction.
  • Skipped update: retrieve the latest complete targets and decision history since your last reviewed ID. Compare against actual account holdings, including older exits that may remain after missed weeks. Do not replay historical orders blindly. A file's predecessor exits cannot replace this account reconciliation.
  • Missed or stale publication: the previous saved decision can remain available. Read processing status and effective time; an available file does not imply that a new weekly decision was made or that trading should proceed.
  • Correction: a correction has its own decision ID and a supersedes_rebalance_id. Review the replacement and any earlier pending orders, actual fills or partial fills. It replaces the model instruction; it is not an extra allocation to add. The partner decides how to reconcile the account.
  • Unrelated holdings: do not assume omitted positions will be ignored. Use a dedicated account or a verified sleeve workflow, and inspect proposed orders for every existing holding.
